Coal Columnar Activated Carbon
Activated carbon is an amorphous substance consisting of plane layers of carbon atoms arranged in hexagons, which are not arranged in a graphite-like structure, but in a disorderly and irregularly arranged "spiral-like" structure.
The industrial production of activated carbon in my country started in the 1950s and developed rapidly after the 1980s, mainly coal-based activated carbon. At present, there are more than 1,000 small and medium-sized activated carbon production enterprises in my country. The output of activated carbon accounts for one-third of the world's output. It has become a major producer in the world. There are dozens of activated carbon varieties and more than 100 brands.
With the continuous expansion of the application field of activated carbon in my country, the related production enterprises continue to expand the production scale, and the output level of activated carbon is also continuously improved. In 2007, the production volume reached 350,000 tons, and the export volume was 250,000 tons. In 2008, the production volume was about 380,000 tons. By 2012, my country's activated carbon output increased to about 520,000 tons, with an average annual compound growth rate of more than 8%.
In the application of activated carbon, before the 1970s, it was mainly concentrated in the sugar, medicinal and monosodium glutamate industries; after the 1980s, it expanded to water treatment and environmental protection industries; in the 1990s, in addition to the above fields, Expanded to solvent recovery, food and beverage purification, air purification, desulfurization, carrier, medicine, gold extraction, semiconductor applications, etc.
